Mega-couple Beyonce & Jay Z were spotted holding um…hands & oranges, while walking through Nice airport in France, Saturday evening after attending the NRJ Music Awards.

The paps or at least someone in the Knowles-Carter entourage could’a told Bey that her bag was open…or is is just me?

Bey was awarded with the “Greatest Artist of the Decade”Award at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France!  Check the video of her acceptance of the awards. Later on the fab couple hit up the trendy restaurant & nightclub, Baoli to celebrate…fun times!

Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa…this is NICE!

With just six months until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Al Jazeera’s Andy Richardson investigates the complex and controversial legacy the World Cup being hosted in South Africa next year, is likely to create.

This is the continent’s first world cup. Sure history is being made! Come July however, will it be a technicolor dream or will it translate into something meaningful for the ordinary citizens of South Africa? Andy talks about Khayelitsha, a partially informal township on the outskirts of Cape Town, where over a million people live but the township has approximately 70% unemployment rate! Yet, Cape Town Stadium [previously known as Green Point Stadium] in Cape Town is one of the most expensive (US$600 million) stadium built for the World Cup. Yikes!

So the question is how much the economy generated by the 2010 World Cup coming to South Africa will impact the local communities pre & post the actual games in June of next year? Will they get a substantial piece of the pie or is this another big scale road show for the World Cup? Sound off my people!

Also in soccer news according to a recent press release, FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) announced news of the “Kick-Off Celebration Concert” for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. The 3-hour concert will take place on June 10th, 2010 at the newly rebuilt Orlando Stadium, in Soweto, Johannesburg. Emmy Award-winning producer Kevin Wall and his company Control Room, the world’s leading producer of massive global events were hired to to stage the event which is predicted to draw in  about 5 billion viewers globally!

The historic three-hour live concert event will showcase the music, sport and visual pageantry of South Africa including possible performances by Beyonce, Jay Z, and other international and local artists.

Wow, this time last year, I was in Los Angeles, California, covering the 2008 American Music Awards for BlackTree TV. I  even interviewed CHRIS BROWN, 2008 Artist of the Year, American Music Awards.

Last year’s nominees in this category were Chris Brown, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West. And what a difference a year makes! Chris Brown got into it with Rihanna and ‘Ye “Kanye West’d” Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Awards….phew!
