According to Variety:

Rihanna will make her feature film debut in Universal’s “Battleship” alongside Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch.

Deal was announced Monday. Director Peter Berg is expected to soon begin shooting the live-action tentpole based on Hasbro’s naval combat board game.

U has set a May 25, 2012, release date for “Battleship,” which takes place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force. Kitsch, who also works with Berg in the NBC series “Friday Night Lights,” stars as a naval officer who leads the fight. Skarsgard will play his brother.

Berg is producing along with Sarah Aubrey of Film 44; Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro and Scott Stuber of Stuber Pictures.

Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber wrote the screenplay, with revisions by Brian Koppelman and David Levien.

Rihanna has charted seven No. 1 singles since debuting in 2005. She’s repped by WME.

The “Last Girl On Earth”tour singer told Access Hollywood in an exclusive interview why she chose to be part of Eminem’s emotional song / duet “Love The Way You Lie” which is about an abusive relationship. Eminem surprised Rihanna fans at the Staples Center show in Los Angeles when he joined her on stage during her LiveNation concert tour.

So we shared with you guys the first promotional stills from the controversial biopic, “WINNIE” starring Jennifer Hudson & Terrence Howard. (Controversial on so many levels! Where does one begin…whatever…I digress…) My prayer is that “they” do Mrs. Winnie Madikizela Mandela justice. God knows she has had many challenges in her life-time in addition to being “a mother of a nation” during the imprisonment of her then-husband, Nelson Mandela.

While we await to see the finished product, which hits theaters next year, Terrence Howard was seen in & around Johannesburg practicizing his South African accent. As we reported to you all, Terrence plays Nelson Mandela, a supporting role to Jennifer Hudson who is in the lead role as Winnie Madikizela Mandela…lofty roles for both to play!

So apparently Terrence took “time out of his schedule to watch a soccer match and enjoy lunch with some of the youth of Johannesburg. The Hollywood star shared some words of encouragement with the children.”

In other words, he took time from his schedule to practice his South African accent…who we kidding here!?!?! (yet we will always ♥ Terrence Howard)

So filming of the biopic “WINNIE”, based on the life & times of Winnie Mandela, the wife of former South African President Nelson Mandela (played by Terrance Howard) has been going on in South Africa over the last two months. The movie is being shot in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Robbin Island and is is expected to hit theaters next year.

Also according to The Hollywood Reporter, Wendy Crewson has been cast in Equinoxe Films’ biopic “Winnie,” opposite Terrence Howard and Jennifer Hudson as Nelson and Winnie Mandela.

Crewson (“The Santa Clause”) will play activist Mary Botha, who becomes a social worker in South Africa after witnessing a brutal police assault on a black youth. After befriending the Mandelas during the fight against apartheid, Botha is subjected to phone-tapping, police harassment and house arrest.

Darrell Roodt is directing the Canada/South Africa co-production, which is being produced by Michael Mosca of Equinoxe and Andre Pieterse of Iron Wood Film.

Spoiler Alert: I  don’t know if I should laugh or cry….

According to the movie synopsis, Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. British rocker Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of “yes men” and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesn’t mean he cant have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her backright before kick-starting his world domination.

As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek…

And Sean “P Diddy” Combs plays the maniacal, over-the-top record mogul Sergio Roma!

Diddy got some REALLY nice reviews on his cameo / extended supporting role in the comedy from the “Camp Apatow” laugh factory. Diddy owns most of the movie’s funniest moments with great comedic wit, timing & punch lines! He does a hilarious version of his own Bad Boy music exec!

Judd Apatow (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Funny People) is the producer and the movie opens this Friday (June 4th). Some people are saying that Get Him to the Greek is going to be this year’s Hangover. I’m not co-signing that just yet…

The Queen has a new movie opening in theaters May 14th featuring rapper/actor Common as her love interest. Queen Latifah plays Leslie, a physical therapist who falls for basketball player Scott McKnight played by Common, whom she’s helping recover from a career-threatening injury. Things get complicated because Scott is drawn to Morgan (Paula Patton – she was in the movie, Precious & is Robin Thicke’s wife), the gorgeous best friend of Leslie who has her sight set on being an NBA trophy wife….so Leslie has to choose getting Scott, her lucrative job or her bestie, Morgan. Also in the movie is Pam Grier the original Foxxy Brown.

Starring Matt Dillon, Paul Walker, Idris Elba, Jay Hernandez, Michael Ealy, Tip ‘TI’ Harris, Chris Brown, and Hayden Christensen, TAKERS will be released across movie theaters May 14th of next year…peep trailer below!

According to the plot synopsis, TAKERS, directed by John Luessenhop, revolves around a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case….

Tip “T.I” is back in business! Hopefully he will be staying out of trouble this time around!
