FaraiToday in association with Morris Roda Productions (the organizers of the concert) are giving away 4 SINGLE tickets!  Two tickets for the Durban concert taking place at the Sahara Kingsmead stadium on the 7^th of August. Oh this is totally exciting news…. Wyclef Jean for President of Haiti?!?

According to the folks at MTV:

Wyclef Jean’s family releases statement saying that he ‘has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president.’

Ever since a massive earthquake struck his homeland of Haiti on January 12, former Fugees leader Wyclef Jean has been at the forefront of relief efforts for the perennially impoverished Caribbean nation.

But now the 37-year-old rapper, who was born on the outskirts of the country’s now-devastated capital of Port-au-Prince and who helped anchor MTV’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon, appears to be mulling an even larger role in the rebuilding of his ancestral home. Rumors have emerged over the past week that ‘Clef — who was named ambassador-at-large for the country by current President Rene Preval in 2007 — is considering a run for president.

Haiti’s new president will be chosen in elections happening on November 28; the winner is expected to be sworn in on February 7, 2011. Preval is barred from seeking re-election because he will have served two terms, which is the maximum in Haiti, once his current five-year term ends next year.

While Wyclef, who is likely the most well-known potential candidate, hasn’t made any definitive statement about his intentions, his family released a statement in response to the speculation: “Wyclef’s commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward. At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president. If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately.”

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Jean — who was born in Haiti but grew up in Brooklyn — said he was planning to be involved in the elections, but not necessarily as a candidate.

“Do I have political intentions? At this time, no,” he said. “But what I do have is a movement — it’s called Face à Face,, ‘Face to Face.’ The youth population … we are going to encourage them to vote.” Jean has raised money for Haitian youth through his Yele Haiti Foundation, which hired a new accounting firm after allegations arose about some financial irregularities in the wake of the January quake.

The AP noted that even if Jean did change his mind and decide to throw his hat in the ring by the August 7 deadline, his celebrity would not guarantee an easy road as a candidate in a country where elections are often contentious and violent. There is also the matter of the massive destruction caused by the quake, which has displaced more than 1.5 million Haitians in a country that has not had a functioning economy in decades.

In order to enter the race, Jean would have to prove he has resided in Haiti for five consecutive years, owns property in the country and has never been a citizen of any other country than Haiti; it was unclear at press time if Jean fits those criteria.

According to Variety:

Rihanna will make her feature film debut in Universal’s “Battleship” alongside Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch.

Deal was announced Monday. Director Peter Berg is expected to soon begin shooting the live-action tentpole based on Hasbro’s naval combat board game.

U has set a May 25, 2012, release date for “Battleship,” which takes place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force. Kitsch, who also works with Berg in the NBC series “Friday Night Lights,” stars as a naval officer who leads the fight. Skarsgard will play his brother.

Berg is producing along with Sarah Aubrey of Film 44; Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro and Scott Stuber of Stuber Pictures.

Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber wrote the screenplay, with revisions by Brian Koppelman and David Levien.

Rihanna has charted seven No. 1 singles since debuting in 2005. She’s repped by WME.

The “Last Girl On Earth”tour singer told Access Hollywood in an exclusive interview why she chose to be part of Eminem’s emotional song / duet “Love The Way You Lie” which is about an abusive relationship. Eminem surprised Rihanna fans at the Staples Center show in Los Angeles when he joined her on stage during her LiveNation concert tour.

For all you Robin Thicke fans (including myself), finally the time has come. After postponing his concert in South Africa earlier this year due to the World Cup, Robin is finally coming to Mzansi. South Africa celebrates woman in South Africa and all across the globe on the 9^th of August (which is the official Woman’s Day public holiday), and what better way to celebrate Woman’s Day than with Robin Thicke??? (I’m so glad I’m a woman).

I can’t wait for Mr. Thicke to serenade us with his beautiful voice. The last time he was announced to be coming to the country, I got my hair done and fixed up an outfit suitable for the event only to find out that he had put his SA tour on hold.

Well we can now officially press PLAY, because this time around nothing will stop him (I hope, lol).

Dear Mr.Thicke….(if you are reading this, which I pray you are)

Please dedicate “lost without you to me” (I’ll be singing along, or rather screaming along with you). I’ll wait for your response at the Dome in Johannesburg on the 8^th of August. Thank you in advance…signed Allegro.

So here’s the deal, R&B crooner Jay Sean is on his way to South Africa for his “Three City Tour”, live in concert. He kicks off his show in Durban on the 29^th July at the Gateway Wavehouse. Cape Town is next on his list on the 30^th at the GoodHope Centre and finally Johannesburg on the 31st at the Emperors Centre Court.

Tickets are already available from all Computicket outlets. After my live experience with NeYo, I’ve been waiting for another good show and I hope this is it. For some of those who are missing out on this year’s Vodacom Durban July (Don’t ask why!), Jay Sean comes as quite a consolation.

For one, I have my own hopes about his South African tour. I would like to interview the hot singer…( A girl can dream, right?). Then I would like for him to give a flawless performance of “Down”. That’s by far my favourite song from him (with the absence of Weezy, I hope he makes it worth it).

So I was so clueless about The Republic of Guinea Conakry…I knew it was in West Africa and that’s it! According to wikipedia, Guinea (officially the Republic of Guinea; French: République de Guinée), is a country in West Africa. Formerly known as French Guinea (Guinée française), it is today sometimes called Guinea-Conakry to distinguish it from its neighbor Guinea-Bissau.
