The explosive Miller Boomtown national tour took place this past weekend and proved to be a huge highlight on the SA event calendar.
Self-proclaimed hip hop King of NY, Kendrick Lamar alongside local sensations Khuli Chana, Reason and DJ Dimplez, who blew the roof off and rocked early 25 000 fans across the country.
A combination of A-list celebrities, socialites, artists, DJs, media, competition winners and fans were treated to a hip hop showdown like never before. Concert goers in each city were treated to a unique Miller Boomtown experience.
Durbanâ€™s own Dreamteam were a firm crowd favorite as well as the local DJs. The 6 500 capacity venue burst at the seams with the arrival of Kendrick Lamar welcoming Durban audience with an electrifying hour long set.
Johannesburg hosted the biggest leg of the tour with over 12 000 people in attendance. Hip hop royalty, South Africaâ€™s multiple award winner Khuli Chana and super talented lyricist Reason gave a spectacular performance with a few surprise acts joining them on stage including Ms Cosmo, Cassper Nyonvest, Tumi Molekane and daLES to name a few. The Miller Boomtown dancers were also another highlight of the concert and featured in all three cities performing to different genres .
Not to be out done, Cape Town came out and stood out! Hip hop legend DJ Ready played the main set alongside his protÃ©gÃ© DJ Azhul. Â Khuli Chana and Reason took to the stage warming things up for yet another hour-long, explosive performance by the â€˜kingâ€™ himself. Kendrick closed off this SA tour in true hip hop style with his clever lyrics, witty persona and resilient charming attitude. The showdown climaxed with a medley of several of SAâ€™s finest live on stage all together for the first time ever
