No Visa Needed: Reunion Island

Breaking news is that South African citizens do not need a visa to travel to Reunion Island for short stays up to 90 days, the French Island on the Indian Ocean.

The island will be present in South Africa for a large-scale presentation and virtual tour of the island.  Melrose Arch and V&A Waterfront will provide you with an experience of a lifetime as they depict Reunion Island. You will be transported into a land that’s blessed with a tropical climate and beautiful volcanic landscapes, white sandy beaches and mountain scenery.

Jean Claude Cleret, world-renowned chef will prepare canapés for the guests. Now South Africans will experience and taste for themselves why Jean Claude is the greatest French chef to come out of Reunion Island.

George Sax will roam the crowd, performing soulful, jazzy tunes on the saxophone with his band. Combining powerful, up-tempo saxophone melodies with party-starting house DJ music, the George Sax duo will offer a sensational beginning to the evening with vibey, upbeat island style music.

To end of the entertainment piece is the gorgeous Stéphanie Thazar who is dubbed as a “Chameleon of the World”. Straight out of Reunion Island, Stéphanie Thazar is a talented modern and sensitive woman. Her music sounds just as her origins might foretell: a mix of African, Indian and French Cultures. Her songs are a mix of pop music, soul music and other musical influences from all over the world.
Come and be mesmerized by her husky but also velvet-smooth voice and transported to the island by her energizing stage performance that’s spiced with flamenco dance, and African tango.

Who better than the well-travelled Jo-Ann Strauss to keep you informed throughout the night, along with the Reunion Island Representatives?

Come take a virtual tour of the island in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg on 1st October and V&A Waterfront, Cape Town on 3rd October, all this for free from 19:30pm.
