FARAITODAY Introduces “EASY BODY BLAST!!” New WorkOut Video By Australian-Based Model From Zimbabwe!

You may know her as Faraitoday’s Personal Trainer, who has been training and tracking the fitness progress of one of our readers – Lani Masuku.

Teurai Chanakira, a Zimbabwean Australian-based model qualified as a Personal Trainer in Australia this year.

With not many African female Personal Trainers in Melbourne and why did she decide to take this route??

“Well…since I was 16 I have always wanted to be a Personal Trainer. I grew up riding my bike, exercising and it’s just a part of who I am. I nearly started my PT course a few years ago but I had those usual fears: “I might fail, what could possibly come out of it?” but I have learnt to ignore those limitations that the mind often sets”.

Teurai states that her motivation behind the videos is because it is well-documented by bodies such as the World Health Organisation that globally obesity has more than doubled since several years ago. Obesity is also a growing problem amongst Africans, for example,  a 2010 study by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) revealed that 61 percent of South Africans were overweight, obese or morbidly obese, with 17 percent of children under the age of nine overweight. Being overweight has led to an increase in diseases such as cancer and diabetes to name but a few.

Teurai says,

“My passion lies mainly in helping women achieve a healthy weight. Obesity is preventable and I would like to be a part of the solution. I also hope to encourage African women that exercise and healthier eating choices are not something that “is not within our culture”, but something that can preserve and save our lives.

As the Founder of the Elizabeth Chanakira Cancer Trust besides supporting marginalized cancer patients, we also emphasize the importance of nutrition and physical activity to improve health. What better way to encourage people to get fitter than to make a series of easy to follow fitness videos??

Two weeks ago, Teurai released a YouTube workout video: “Easy Body Blast” which is a simple total body workout which anyone can do in the comfort of their home, backyard or hotel room for those who travel and want to work up a quick sweat. It has already received over 2,000 views.

“The video was originally made for a group of ladies I train and they were using it for a few weeks before I made it public. I’m so pleasantly surprised and humbled that many people have reacted positively to it and I’ve just made Easy Body Blast 2 so keep an eye on my YouTube channel.”
