CONGRATULATIONS: Morehouse College Confers HONORARY DOCTORATE To Zimbabwean Billionaire, STRIVE MASIYIWA!

Congratulations! Makorokoto! Halala! Amhlophe to Dr. Strive Masiyiwa!

It is NO secret that I greatly admire this man of God and extraordinary business-man!

Morehouse College, one of the premier higher educational institutions for African American men based in Atlanta, Georgia honored Strive Masiyiwa with an Honorary Doctorate Degree this weekend!

In addition to Dr. Strive Masiyiwa, Morehouse also conferred Honorary Doctorate degrees to S. Truett Cathy, Founder and Chairman  of Chick-fil-A, Inc. and Elaine Tuttle Hansen, Executive Director, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

According to the Morehouse College 2012 Commencement website:

Strive Masiyiwa is a Zimbabwean born businessman and cell phone pioneer, founding Econet Wireless. He is also Zimbabwe’s first billionaire, at an estimated net worth of just over $1.4 billion, making him one of Africa’s richest businessmen.

His flagship business, South African-based Econet Wireless is now a global telecommunications group with operations, investments and offices in more than 15 countries. The company’s activities include mobile cellular telephony, fixed networks, enterprise networks, fibre optic cables, and satellite services. They also provide payment solutions to banks across Africa.

After the commencement ceremony, Strive and his lovely wife, Tsitsi and other family members joined Oprah Winfrey,Chris Tucker, Atlanta Mayor, Kasim Reed, Indie Arie, Tyrese, Jasmine Guy, Dallas Austin and many more at the Hyatt Regency to celebrate former United Nations ambassador, former Atlanta Mayor and Civil Rights icon, Andrew Young’s 80th birthday! Former President Bill Clinton and Maya Angelou sent Ambassador Andrew Young taped messages for the special occasion…
