Wasn’t it just in November of last year, November 18th to be exact, that the good Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai sent a delegation to Lorcadia Karimatsenga Tembo’s home to ask for her hand in marriage and pay the bride-price lobola for her?
Granted he had terminated the relationship 24 hours later, stating:
“I sent a delegation to the Karimatsenga family homestead to perform traditional and cultural rites to formalise this relationship. I was well-meaning and had good intentions to rebuild my family and start a new lease of life following the tragic passing on of my wife on March 6, 2009. But since the day I sent a delegation to the Karimatsenga family, everything has been played in the press and I have become an innocent bystander in what is supposed to be my relationship. I have become a spectator in this relationship and things are happening too fast, on camera and without my knowledge. This has led me to conclude that there is a greater and thicker plot around this issue which has undermined my confidence in this relationship”
So now, according to the folks at New Zimbabwe.com, the Prime Minister’s spokesman, Luke Tamborinyoka confirmed Friday night:
“The Prime Minister has engaged with his loved one. We are happy that a process has begun in formalizing his relationship with our new mother.”
So apparently, Prime Minister Tsvangirai, joined by family and friends, introduced his new wife-to-be at the LaFarrranatta Restaurant along Mutoko Road.
The new fiancee is Elizabeth Macheka who is said to be a widow. Ms. Macheka owns an upmarket beauty salon in Harare. Her first husband, Mabasa Simba Guma, died in a car crash 10 years ago. Ms. Macheka is the daughter of Zanu PF politburo member and former Chitungwiza mayor, Joseph Macheka.
I just hope that THIS engagement lasts more than 12 days….
