Burger King Cancels Mary J Blige Ad + Whitney Houston Final Autopsy Report Released!

Fast-food chain, Burger King has scrubbed their new chicken snack wraps Ad featuring the Queen of hip hop, Mary J. Blige from the web and rightly so.

Most folks in the African American community criticized the ad as stereotypical.  Some even describing it as:

Mary J Blige had this to say about the controversial ad:

“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip. I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”

Burger King claimed that the ad was released prematurely:

“before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained.”

Right. *side eyes* and of course the perfunctory:

“We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final.”

Blah. Blah. Blah.

Burger King, y’all slipped on that one!

With the recent release of the official trailer for her upcoming movie, “Sparkle“, Whitney Houston‘s final autopsy report was released earlier today.

According to the report released by the L.A. County Department of Coroner, the primary cause of death for Whitney Houston was drowning. The report states that Whitney Houston was discovered face-down in “extremely hot water,” and there was a scald burn on her back.

Additionally, according to Dr. Christopher Rogers, chief of the coroner’s Forensic Medicine Division, and chief medical examiner-coroner Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran, who performed the autopsy Whitney‘s death was also “due to, or as a consequence of” the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.

Per the report, investigators found in the bathroom a small spoon with a “white crystal like substance,” as well as a “white powdery substance” on the counter and a portable mirror with traces of the same powder on it.

Toxicology testing turned up cocaine, Benadril, the muscle relaxer Flexeril, marijuana, Xanax, cocaethylene (produced when cocaine mixes with alcohol) and benzoylecgonin (a primary metabolite of cocaine).

Kristy McCracken of the Beverly Hills Police Department wrote in her final report that, upon completing her investigation, she had determined that Houston “possibly overdosed on a narcotic substance, prescription medications, over the counter medications and alcohol.”
Now that the final autopsy report is out, I hope the media and public can allow Whitney Houston to rest in peace and her family mourn her loss with dignity.
