The 2011 Feather Awards have come and gone….

And once again, the Feather Awards rocked Jozi in an incredible display of glam, over-the-top fabness, sass and humor at the celebrations held in Melrose Arch, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Now in its 3rd year, the Feather Awards has established itself as one of the most sought-after tickets in town- a flamboyant celebration of public figures that inspire the gay and lesbian community. From business-people to actors, sportspeople, musicians and TV personalities- the Feather Awards pays a cheeky tribute to the ‘uber-fab’ who represent style, glamour, community-spirit, talent, focus and achievement.

Presenting to you guys, the 2011 Feathers winners:

Nonhle Thema

Best Styled Female – This category is for ladies that consistently kept their style fierce throughout the year.
Bonang Matheba


Best Styled Male – The men that have remained stylish throughout the year.
Siphiwe Mpye


Hunk of the Year – These men just ooze the X-factor, you look at them and you just want a hug and a um….
Lulo Café


Diva Extraordinaire of the Year – These women are who always carry themselves well and they have a strong presence.
Edith Venter (after they had announced Noleen as the winner, but apologised to Edith)


Sports Personality of the Year – People that have inspired in the world of sports
Andile Jali (wasn’t present)


Role model of the Year – They never put their foot wrong in the public eye, they continue to contribute positively to society.
Natalie Du Toit (wasn’t present)


Cutest Couple – these are “couples” people adore and look up to.
Kenny Kunene & Gayton Mckenzie (shoulda gone to Kabelo & Danny but there’s next year!)


Hot Chick of the Year – these are women who ooze a lot of sex appeal.
Claire Mawisa


Fag hag of the Year – Need we say more, they never leave their home without their favorite accessories, a gay friend.
Kenny Kunene


Musician – musicians we love to listen to on and off stage.
Zakes Bantwini & Zahara (a tie)


Socialite – Seen at every opening of an envelope or an erection of a stop sign.
Jen Su


Drama Queen – These are personalities we read about every Sunday over breakfast, their lives revolve around a lot of dramatic behaviour or situation.
Nonhle Thema (who couldn’t be present as she has food poisoning so says Kenny, who collected the award on her behalf)

Thank you to the Feather Awards for an entertaining night and for the invite. It was a night filled with glam, fabulosity, and I must say, the party was one-of-a-kind!!
