New York Fashion Week: Arise’s “Made in Africa”, Spring 2012 Collective: KLûK CGDT

Filed under : Africa, Entertainment, Fashion

Hey guys & dolls!

By far my FAVORITE showing at the Arise “Made In Africa” Collective showing, this past Thursday in New York City!

I was screaming as I watched the models float past the runway in their dream-like gowns!

South African fashion designers, KLûK CGDT closed the ARISE Made in Africa – Spring 2012 Collective Show.

Before we show you guys the collection, here’s an interview with Malcolm Klûk, one half of South African label KLûK CGDT – the other half being Christiaan Gabriel Du Toit. Klûk gives Arise Magazine an exclusive preview of what to expect from KLûK CGDT’s contribution to the ARISE Spring 2012 Designer Collective – namely romance!

What do you think will define S/S 2012 for you?

For us it is a combination of desaturated colour with bright accents, we love the pretty romantic floral feeling with a harder edge.

What can we expect from your collection?

We wanted to show that Africa is more than curio. More than leopard. We have done a romantic collection using the colours we see around us and using very traditional fabric.

Can you give us a progress report on your collection?

Everything is coming together, but nothing seems to be finished. There have been some exciting developments with accessories and jewellery.

What three words describe how you feel as NYFW approaches?

Inspired, overwhelmed, excited.

What essentials are you packing that you couldn’t do without at NYFW?

My assistant!

And now, ladies & gentlemen, here is the Klûk CGDT collection:
