WATCH NOW: U.K. TV Sitcom Centered On Nigerian Family (“Meet The Adebanjos”)

Hello Lovely Ones!

My mantra for 2011 is “we are coming like LeBron’s ring!“. I have always said that it paramount to have more and more conscious African women & men contribute to stories being told on television & film, especially on mainstream platforms. Our contributions to this dialogue is critical, imperative and “coming like LeBron’s ring!

So you can imagine my delight, my joy when I came across this “brand new revolutionary comedy sitcom about a Nigerian -British Family living in the U.K” called “Meet the Adebanjo’s“!

The Adebanjo’s

Love it already! So “Meet the Adebanjo’s” is a TV comedy sitcom about a family living in Peckham, South London, England, consisting of Nigerian parents, British children and unwanted extended family.

That’s most of us Africans living in the diaspora!

Dad, Bayo Adebanjo (played by Wale Ojo) and Mom, Gladys Adebanjo (played by Yetunde Oduwole)

The show follows a larger than life Dad, Bayo, struggling to instill his old fashion African values in his British household. It is a clash of African traditional values versus British culture. With the mix of a radical Pentecostal pastor, a reggae loving tutor and a cousin who has just arrived from Nigeria, how will Bayo cope and more importantly does he even stand a chance? In a comedic way the sitcom deals with how a Nigerian family with 2 Nigerian-born parents and 3 British-born children adapt to life in the U.K.

Meet the Adebanjo’s – for real!!!!

The Nigerian TV household will be one of drama, laughs, conflicts, growing up, dreams, relationships, education, religion, acceptance, adapting and most importantly family love!!!  According to the show producers, the “aim is to make the audience laugh so you can be rest assured this will not be a show which takes itself too serious making it prefect primetime family viewing which every family in the U.K will be able to enjoy!

The show is created by MTA Productions LTD and is produced by MTA Productions LTD and Fresh Media Productions LTD. The series was filmed in a live studio set in London. Meet the Adebanjos is also due to air in major TV networks over the U.K, Africa and South America. It has gained huge international appeal in Africa due to it’s entertaining portrayal of African family lifestyle and culture in modern day Britain.
