Local soccer/football has been very interesting lately. The PSL has never been this intense, with Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town both with 53 points sitting at 1st and 2nd place.

Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic make up the top 5 teams. I am personally disappointed in Kaizer Chiefs who had so many chances to stay in the title race but opted for draw, after draw, after draw *sigh*. At the bottom of the log in the top 3 are Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows and Black Aces (guess someone is going back to the NFD).

It seems as though Kaizer Chiefs may settle for the Nedbank cup, since the PSL is far from their reach. They knocked out defending champs Bidvest Wits 4-0 this past weekend (wish they had played like this in the PSL).

From 32 teams we are now down to 8 in the quarter-finals. The remaining 8 teams are:

23 April

  • Black Leopards V Vasco Da Gama (Peter Mokaba Stadium)
  • Orlando Pirates V Free State Stars (Orlando stadium)

24 April

  • Amazulu V Mpumalanga Black Aces (King Zwelithini Stadium)
  • Baroka FC V Kaizer Chiefs (Peter Mokaba Stadium)

My predictions…

  • Black Leopards V Vasco Da Gama >>> Vasco Da Gama
  • Orlando Pirates V Free State Stars >>> Orlando Pirates
  • Amazulu V MP Black Aces >>> Amazulu
  • Baroka FC V Kaizer Chiefs >>> Kaizer Chiefs
  • Semi-finals:

    Orlando Pirates V Kaizer Chiefs

    Amazulu V Vasco Da Gama

Kaizer Chiefs V Vasco Da Gama

    Winners: Kaizer Chiefs :-)

That’s just me being very patriotic, lol! What are your predictions on either the PSL or Nedbank Cup?
