I’m up in arms along with the rest of the country’s soccer fans who believe that “Bafana Bafana”, the nickname of the South African national soccer team should remain as it is.

I don’t understand (and don’t think I ever will understand) why this name issue is such a huge issue. For me it’s a waste of and time and money. The national team has more problems to worry about than about it’s name.

Personally, I don’t think it would make much of a difference if they are called something else. I mean, South African’s will not stop calling “Bafana Bafana”, “Bafana Bafana” just because the sports ministry now find the name undesirable. I mean really, according to who? The nation doesn’t seem to have a problem with the name, so why now?

These people, must reminded and keep in mind that “Bafana Bafana” is a brand and part of our soccer culture. For as long as I can remember they were called Bafana Bafana. I grew up hearing my elders call it Bafana Bafana, hence I don’t see the need for a change especially if that change is something like “the rainbow boys” really??? TJO!

Dear SAFA and company, please leave “Bafana Bafana” alone and focus on the much bigger issue that you face within your camp. This is just going to cause unnecessary drama and upset individuals who have for so long had pride in calling our boys, our national team “Bafana Bafana”. #IThankYou (twitter tendencies, lol).

On that note allow me to shift my focus to tonights match against Egypt. I will stress again that can we all go out and support Bafana just as we did during the world cup. So far not even half the tickets have been bought (Disappointing). I’m sure we can do better than this. Tickets are still available @ Computicket for R50 and R100. (hope to see you all at Ellis Park Stadium later this evening).

From your girl Allegro Dinkwanyane-“I’m just saying”, so have your say…

Do you approve or disapprove of the Bafana’s name change?
