Thought I should take the time to pay my dues before 2011 rolls in. *wow* where do I start? The year 2010 has truly been a year of trials and tribulations, drama and success (and yes a bit of failure here and there). I joined FaraiToday in February 2010 and it has taken me on one of the most exciting rides of my life.

For a South African, 2010 was already marked as the year in which history would be made. South Africa was the first country to host “an African” Fifa World cup and yes I felt it and I was there…

Sure we didn’t make it far but we can be proud as we hosted one of the best World Cups, that saw history unfold (only on Africa soil). The country attracted A-list stars and who could forget Shakira??? She along with Freshly Ground had the whole world dancing to “waka-waka”. I also had the privilege of meeting some of football’s greatest stars both local and international, fallen and rising (same difference, *Kanye shrug* lol).

2010 was also the year I got to meet the super talented international artist NeYo and his lovely entourage. Not only did I meet the Grammy award winner but I also made friends with his hot dancer Cliff and Mr Ward. This was definitely one of my greatest experiences ever.

With Mr. Ward

In the midst of all this excitement, I still had my BA Journalism to focus on, Lord knows what my mother would do if I failed a module. So you can imagine that by now I wasn’t getting much sleep, all in the love of making my mark.

Everything was in balance until I heard Jay Sean would be hitting the country, this signaled another interview and boy was I happy. I got the chance to meet and interview the Cash Money star who was so humble (he greeted me first and complimented my then hairdo *blushes*). He was even hotter in person, truly amazing.

As the country, myself included were still hung over the fact that Robin Thicke couldn’t decide if he was coming or going, I turned my focus to my radio show on Johannesburg’s number 1 campus radio station UJFM 95.4, with my show Club 954. Radio has always played a huge role in my life and being behind the mic is always fulfilling. P.S: I’m still waiting on you Mr. Thicke, hopefully 2011 will be the year!

Thanks to your support and loyalty to my work and the whole team at FaraiToday, I was embraced with loved and support from our current readers and was able to attract new readers on a daily basis. This led to me officially holding the role of Senior Editor of FaraiToday (South Africa).

Excitement was rife again when young Money’s Tyga was set to hit the country with a club appearance in Johannesburg. Well, he pretty much lived up to the excitement of some but I wasn’t too impressed (which is why I recommend that Drake, Nicki, Weezy and the whole lot of YM hop on a plain to SA next time, lol).

It was also great to see DJ Drama in the country. Angie Stone also did her rounds around South Africa and showed us why she is still “relevant”. Some time ago Bow Wow also dropped by for a visit and who can forget the sneaky little grand entry and exit teen star Justin Bieber made to the country for a vacation (I would have loved to have interviewed him).

I got to experience the South African entertainment scene on another level, talk about VVIP. All this courtesy of BFCheeky via Brutal Fruit…I kept up with the Kardashian’s (Kim and Khloe) during their three day stay in the country, which lasted a day later since they were as Kim put in via Twitter “STRANDED” in Cape Town (lol). Hopping from award ceremony to launch party, and partying with the stars…this year has truly been a journey of captured memories.

A lot more happened in South Africa and around the world, but it’s my experiences that I would like to share in this note where I bid the year 2010 good bye and warmly welcome 2011.

I have been blessed with so much and as I embark on my journey to truly becoming the professional I want to be (inspired by Oprah, Khanyi Dhlomo & my mother Meriam Dinkwanyane). I take all the lessons learned this year to heart and will be sure not to repeat the mistakes I made. I’m not one to set New Year’s resolutions, (I hardly live up to them, while they hang over my shoulder), so I won’t even bother. I choose to live life by the second and embrace every blessing and challenge that comes my way. Learning is a lifelong process, and academics are what I also do best (that sounds so cheesy, but it’s not…lol).

I am excited to be entering my final year towards completion of my BA Journalism degree (in record time J) and continuing to “write what I like”. If I could wish for anything amazing in 2010 to happen it would be…wait for it…to see Usher back in the country for a country tour (hopefully I’ll sneak in an interview). I would also wish for a G6 and maybe a room filled with Louis Vuitton goodies (okay, I’m pushing it!) but on a serious note…I would like to wish every single one of you our loyal readers/viewers/audience a happy, blessed and prosperous new year. Make it you’re your to shine from the rest and be the best you can be.

Myself and the rest of the FaraiToday team across the world have lots in store for you, only the best in local and international entertainment news and we hope that you stick around long enough with us to share our excitement and bring fulfillment to what we do best #justsaying.

And with that being said do remember that Rick Ross will be “Blowing Money Fast” and shutting down 2010 in style in Cape Town, South Africa next week on the 29th…it’s gonna be “Aston Martin Music” sick!!!

In Kanye’s “wise words”…let’s have a toast to the_______!!! SEE YOU ALL IN 2011 xoxo.

From your girl Allegro Dinkwanyane-“I’m just saying”, so have your say…
