Wafa Wafa time!

Yesterday South African football fans were treated to yet another not so entertaining “Soweto Derby”. Archrivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates locked horns in the second leg of the MTN8 Semi-finals to see who would advance through to the finals.

In my opinion and I gather that many would agree with me that it was a dull game with no action right until the 60th minute of the game. Over 70 thousand fans gathered at the FNB Stadium formerly known as Soccer City stadium during the 2010 World Cup.

Fans were left hungry for goals as the game approached half-time. Pirates fans were finally given a reason to celebrate by Katlego Mashego who scored a rather flimsy goal with just about 10 minutes or so remaining of the game. His goal left the country’s best goal keeper, Itumeleng Khune with no chance of a save. Had Kaizer Chiefs held on for a little longer they would be the celebrated team. On the day Orlando Pirates made better substitutions that attributed to their benefit, something Kaizer Chiefs lacked.

Orlando Pirates were the better team on the day with players like Chansa, Jali (man of the match) and Segolela making life difficult for the Chiefs players. Whether or not the absence of Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise was an advantage or a disadvantage as some would have liked to see him play, Pirates can celebrate their win without shifting the blame.

Orlando Pirates will host Moroka Swallows (which defeated Ajax Cape Town to advance to the finals) this coming Saturday at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban, kick-off for this game is scheduled for 20:15pm. The last team standing will walk away with a coveted R8 million rand cash prize.

Tickets are already on Sale for this game, so go get them before they are sold out!

From your girl Allegro Dinkwanyane-“I’m just saying”, so have your say…

Who will take home the R8 million come Saturday 2 October 2010?
