South African DJ Black Coffee (who DJ’s with only one hand) made many South African’s proud yesterday (26th September) when he set the record for the longest hours a man/DJ has spent DJ’ing. His hours mounted up to 60hrs of non-stop music…(yep! He spent 60hrs on the decks).
Maponya Mall in Soweto, Johannesburg, was packed to capacity in support of his initiative through his newly found DJ Black Coffee Foundation that was launched on the 24th September 2010. The foundation is aimed at aiding disabled people in South Africa. South African celebrities and fellow DJ’s were inspired and motivated and all showed their support via twitter (making him a trending topic with #teamblackcoffee and using his picture as their avatar (profile picture for those of you who are lost, lol).
It was a long 4 day launch that started on the 23rd and ended yesterday the 26th September at noon.
“Nkosinathi Maphumulo, whom has become known as DJ Black Coffee has established a foundation called, DJ Black Coffee Foundation, in which he seeks to contribute to the South African multitudes, particularly the destitute and disabled society”.- http://www.djblackcoffee.org/
“The foundation is an eminent tool to plough back to the very same community, country that has been a shelter for his success throughout his academic, career and life’s struggles. African Agenda is a peculiar term that teaches different people, especially South Africans, to promote the rehabilitation of our country, in any means that contributes towards nation building”.- http://www.djblackcoffee.org/
