I’m so excited about this so much that I just had to share! Anyone remember Coca-Cola POPSTARS? (if not, keep reading). Think Idols! POPSTARS is back and once again is in search of wannabe artists.
POPATARS is back without the Coca-Cola and this time it will be aired on ETV (Previously on SABC 1). The show will be hosted by former POPSTARS winner Martin Phike who shared the victory with his group members from Ghetto Lingo (and he was one of the most popular guys from Ghetto Lingo, very cute at some stage). Jamali was the all-girl trio that lost out to Ghetto Lingo. (I still remember one of the episodes towards the finale when international artist Jamelia came down as one of the guest judges to give the two groups a challenge).
Host: Martin Phike
However, I must say although they were runner-ups Jamali have been the most successful winners of POPSTARS, along with Thembisile from Adilah (and who could ever forget Karabo, hhmm memories) and of course Pam Andrews from 101(the first group to win the Coca-Cola POPSTARS search), who later moved on to become an actress. I am however disappointed that most of the winners didn’t take their music that far, as soon as they got the money, cars and clothes…they vanished.
All I can say is “my TV is about to get funnier”, I can’t wait to watch the first round show (that’s where you get the most laughs). So if you think you can sing and are South Africa’s next POP-STAR here are the audition dates:
And in case you are wondering who you will have to impress in order to progress in the competition, here are the judges:
Zwai Bala, PJ Powers and Azania Ndoro
