SHOUT is a campaign working against crime in South Africa. It is the brain child of South African artist Danny K who teamed up with Kabelo Mabalane (a member of TKZee) to develop it further. It is a non-profitable campaign and all proceeds raised go directly to fighting the crime in SA.

Shout was inspired by the death of legendary South African reggae artist Lucky Dube, who was high jacked and gunned-down 2 years ago leaving behind his wife and children. His death sparked many questions about South Africa’s high level of crime and thus over 37 South African artists and personalities got involved in the Shout campaign.

So who exactly are some of the artists involved in the Shout song?

Artists include Legendary musician Hugh Masekela, Gospel queen Rebecca Malope, the princess of Africa Yvonne Chaka-Chaka, Danny K, Kabelo Mabalane, Tamara Dey & Flash Republic, Lira, Siphokazi, Skwatta Kamp members Sliquor and Suggasmax, Karin Zoid, Freshly Ground, Soweto Gospel Choir, Tasha Baxter, Prime Circle, Steve Hofmeyer, Louise Carver, Kurt Darren, Arno Carstens, Loyiso, Gang of Instrumentals, RJ Benjamin, NKD, Kwela Tebza, Proverb, Jacques Terre’blanche, Wafeeq, Obita, Bezwana, In cha, JAE, Emmanuel Castins, Albert Frost and Gift Gwe.

Local South African personalities featured in the video include Radio and TV presenter Elana Afrika, TV host Nonhle Thema, DJ Fresh, Jeremy Mansfield, Pabi Moloi, Mark Pilgrim, Lee Ann Liebennerg, Vanessa Carrera, Leanne Manas, Kerishinie Naiker, Darren Simpson, KB, retired boxer Baby Jake, Joey Rasdien, actress Sophie Ndaba, Shaleen Surtie Richards, Alex Jay, John Robbie, and Redi Direko.

The fight against crime needs more than 37 personalities. As the quote “united we stand, divided we fall” emphasizes, Shout needs the whole of South Africa to unite against crime because a lot more can be done in unity.

To be a part of this great initiative, SMS “SHOUT” to 33335 (SOUTH AFRICA) to donate R20 to stop crime in South Africa. Every SMS automatically receives the Shout song.

Well my brother just crossed over into S.A (from Zimbabwe) just last week and was greeted with a mugging @ gunpoint. Thankfully, all they took was his money. Further proof that such endeavours are really needed in South Africa….especially in eGoli (J’Burg).
