Finally we hear from Coco…

Conan O’Brien makes his first TV interview appearance on 60 Minutes with Steve Kroft since his surprise & almost ugly exit from U.S television network, NBC and The Tonight Show. Quick recap, Conan had to give back his spot on the The Tonight Show to Jay Leno beginning March 1, 2010.  This move enabled Jay Leno to move from his 10pm week night time slot to 11:35pm…

Drama ensued resulting in Conan leaving The Tonight Show with a $33 million payout.  Additionally He was legally prohibited from making jokes about the network as well as from giving interviews until May 1

Which left the late night talk show host with little choice but to amuse himself (& his fans, followers) on Twitter and on stage with his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour”…

I thought Coco gave a balanced interview. I mean he was forthright with his feelings without bashing the NBC-powers-that-be or Jay Leno. You could tell that he was sad about the situation but not woe-is-me type of depression! He was funny too…yeah Coco funny!

Peep his interview on 60 Minutes

What’s up with the beard Coco?

“…that was my small victory, you know? Okay, so I lost The Tonight Show, but I’ll show them — I’ll stop shaving.”

…losing The Tonight Show, how did that make you feel Coco?

“I got very depressed at times. It was like a marriage breaking up suddenly, violently, quickly, and I was just trying to figure out what happened”

And just how did your talks with the NBC execs go Coco?

“It just felt like the tone went very quickly from, ‘Take your time, we understand this is a tough decision,’ to — [snaps fingers] you know, ‘Let’s go.’  And that probably helped me a little bit feel like, ‘You know what?  This environment doesn’t feel right, and I’ve been with these people a long time… I really don’t like the way this is going.’ And when it started to get toxic and I started to feel that I’m not sure these people even really want me here. Let’s just — let’s just — I can’t do it.”

Alot of people were affected by this fiasco including Jay Leno, who said that he too was “screwed” Coco

“How did he get screwed again? Explain that part to me. I’m sorry. Jay’s got The Tonight Show. I have a beard and an inflatable bat. And I’m touring city-to-city. Who can say who won and who lost? I’m laughing ’cause crying would be sad.”

With a $33 million exit package & a new show coming to TBS, who really got screwed?!?!? What do you guys think?!? Holla back & let us know your thoughts….

Muah & ♥ ya for it!
