Over in England, the Ndoro Children’s Charities held their first annual Zimbabwe Pearl Ball at the iconic & exclusive Westbury Hotel in Mayfair, London at the beginning of this month. Zimbabweans who work relentlessly to promote a positive image of country of Zimbabwe were also honored at this very lavish affair.

Tuku, Africa’s musical legend & Zimbabwe’s musical ambassador, who attended the ball said, “Music is my life and I look forward to sharing what I love most about making music & doing what I can to highlight this important cause.” This was Tuku’s first performance following the tragic loss of his beloved son Sam Mtukudzi whose sudden passing spurned numerous emotive tributes throughout the diaspora.

One of the primary goals for hosting the Pearl Ball was to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Zororo Leadership Academy an orphanage home, school and clinic in Zimbabwe for 500 or so children. “My father used to tell me that whatever you can dream, you can do, you just have to begin it” said Ndoro Children’s Charities‘ founder, Roseline Ndoroand it is my dream to build a school for children whose lives have been devastated by HIV & Aids“. Go girl…

Peep Red Carpet fabness of some of the celebs that turned up to support Ndoro Children’s Charities

U.K. Pop/R & B singer Sabrina Washington

Zimbabwe’s first reality TV celeb (2005 Big Brother finalist) Makosi Musambasi

I have to say that pink is my fave color but I think this gown was a miss for Makosi who usually stays fab at most London events…

U.K. Top 10 recording artist McLean & Zimbabwean R & B singer Cynthia Mare

Danai Mavunga from NdeipiPR

I adore this frock that Danai donned!

U.K./Congolese comedian Eddie Kadi and Zimbabwean MC Glorianne Francis

I heart Glorianne’s gown which was from the House of Haranga Afrik KlodzMarkers of Southern Africa. Very regal!

Another musical legend, Zimbabwean singer Rozalla Miller

I was all kinds of emotional when I saw this picture of Rozalla Miller. I mean, she rocked the radio growing up (remember her hit song “Everybody is Free“?) and I had not seen her since. So it was great to see her looking uber fab on the red carpet (really Black don’t crack!)…

Shingai Shoniwa & The Noisettes arriving at the Westbury Mayfair Hotel in London for the Pearl Ball

Indie-soul diva Shingai actually hosted/MC’ed the event & performed with her band. I hear she brought it as only Shingai can! Loves it!

Other acts included singer/songwriter, Natty whose debut album “Man Like I” was released to critical acclaim. International entertainment retail chain, HVM “Next Big Thing” & “One To Watch Tinashe was in the building as well as Zimbabwean-dancehall king, Jusa Dementor, whose current single, “African Airhorn Dance” is taking African clubs by storm.

Some of the recipients included another musical legend and mbira guru, Amai Stella Chiweshe and Andy Flower, former international cricketer for Zimbabwe.
