I do, I do, I do, I do! South Africa’s Milton Mbhele marries his 4 wives in one wedding.

Oh boy!

Milton Mbhele

Milton Mbhele marries his 4 wives during their western wedding in Weenen, near Ladysmith, South Africa, last week Saturday. As you recall, Lamar Odom & Khloe Kardashian “tied the knot” the following Sunday. Weekend of interesting weddings or what?????

So South African law recognizes traditional polygamous marriages. Polygamy remains common among several South African groups including the Zulu’s and Swazi’s. South African President Jacob Zuma has three wives and King of Swaziland, King Mswati III has 14 wives. To be sure, simultaneous wedding like Milton and Happiness, Thobile, Simangele & Zanele’s wedding are rare. The economy, maybe???

So a while back I asked the question on Facebook, regarding polygamy specifically its relevance during these modern times [African women are educated, financially affluent, upwardly mobile, well travelled and exposed, there is the thorny issue of  HIV & AIDS etc, family dynamics, Biblical interpretations of definition of marriage etc]. The response was very overwhelming, insightful and thought provoking!

So we pose that question to you, our readers, particularly African women & girls, how relevant is polygamy in today’s world? Let’s talk about it…thanks for sharing!

Ciao!

Wow ! Him, at least, won’t go behind the house and do nonsense… He made a good decision by marrying them all. These negotiations have surely been tough, but he hopefully made it at last, lol, Congratulations !!!
